INSPIRING YOUNG ARTISTS

Creative Dramatics is about process and building the necessary skills for students to participate in theatre, to help students develop new understandings of themselves and the world around them, and to become skilled in new ways to communicate through voice and body.

Creative Dramatics develop the skills necessary for a child to ultimately be able to confidently pick up a script and go from the text to the stage and understand many of the “whys” and “how to-s”.

Students enrolled in this class will be asked to participate in the January LAMB School production STAR POWER: The Rock Musical. The weeks of January 4 - 23 will be used for rehearsal for the musical, so no official class will be held.

Approach your voice as an instrument. Learn to sing understanding more about the musical symbols on the page and how the body works to create a beautiful, strong and healthy voice. Class Voice students will be put into a class based on age/ability.

In addition to voice class, elementary and middle school students will be welcomed into the cast of The LAMB School's January production of the rock musical STAR POWER. The weeks of January 4 - 23 will be used for rehearsal for the musical so no official class will be held.

Beginning Acting develops the skills necessary for a student to confidently pick up a script and go from the text to the stage and understand many of the “whys” and “how to-s”.

Students this age will be eligible and to be in the January rock musical STAR POWER. The weeks of January 4 - 23 will be used for rehearsal for the musical, so no official class will be held.

Musical theatre is a form of performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. Acting is a great outlet for creativity. But what really stretches one’s’ creative muscles is acting combined with singing and dancing. Confidence is all about getting out of your comfort zone. And musical theatre training does just that. Musical theater training includes voice training. That doesn’t necessarily mean your child will develop professional singing skills, but it does mean that they will learn how to use their voice better.

Musical theatre obviously combines song and dance, so dance training is a must. Mastering stage movement is super important for actors. Musical theater training not only gives your child musical stamina but physical coordination that’s so useful on stage as well. Actors of all ages must have a certain awareness of their bodies and be able to move freely. Musical theater training provides a creative outlet that can’t be beat. It teaches kids not only useful techniques and skills, but encourages them to grow, get out of their shell, and make new friends.

Taught by LAMB Theatre's Artistic/Managing Director, Russell Wooley, this course is for the serious high school actor.   As detailed by a former ATA (ACADEMY OF THEATRICAL ARTS) student:

1. I learned to communicate with people more effectively.
2. I became more confident in my body.
3. I learned how to relieve stress and tension through creative expression.
4. I learned that it is okay to be vulnerable.
5. I made lifelong friends in a positive, dynamic, fun environment.

Students in this class are eligible to be considered for Main Stage productions.
